My wife told me this morning that she wouldn't have six vehicles around as we have 5 now. [this started when I asked if she was wanting to get rid of the Jeep, my mistake!] Anyway, I said, " Really, Who died and left you in charge"? We were both in a good mood for a change and it was ll said in good humour, but the wirting is on the wall for the Jeep if I don't get a move on teaching my son to drive stick! If I'm to save it from the sales floor I need get him driving a clucth and asking his mom to keep it! she'll keep it for him. Plus to me it seems rather short sighted to sell off a vehicle with 62,000 miles and keep one with 120,000 !
My son says he wants a Wrangler, I can convince him the 97 XJ is close enough!

Bring the 65 to Morgantown, head east, pick up the wagon head south, by the time you get home, your car count will be even!

Mark,

Things sure have changed since I grew up or I was just an under-valued kid!
Growing up if I wanted a car to drive a car I had to go earn the money to do so.
This included the car, insurance, parking and gas. Granted, things were cheaper back
in the 60's, but they were not free!

Seems like today kids will turn their noses up to free rides that "are not what they really want"
and I personally had this experience with my own daughter.

I would have killed to be able to drive a "free car" even if it meant I had to learn a new way to drive!

I have seen this personally at least three times and I don't quite get it! In addition, the kids
seem to expect their parents will provide free transportation to them, as if it is mandatory to
do so and are not at all appreciative!

How did we ever get to this state of affairs?

Peter

-----> AMEN, Doc! I sold my first AMC, a 69 BBO
Javelin SST with 390/4spd and a T/A wing, to cover the
birth expenses of my first daughter. The 70 SST 390
Javelin was gone soon after, while on deployment. My
wife is very supportive of my weird dream, but I feel
exactly the same. All those little rugrats turned
into fine women and a big and strong man who lent me
the money to put the cam into Molly. I too am the
only driver and have to get up just to run her
over(oops, I mean to work).

On another note, I too liked hearing about Tom's
little escapades. Here's an excerpt from the Gremlin
Birthday Card I had up for a while:

/...During the 80's, my father owned two used
Gremlins, both already in the required Earl Schreib
bucket of paint job. The green 75 was on its way home
from a desert party on a rough road one morning, when
it lost the bottom control arm bushings at the
frame... I actually drove it 10 miles home on the
spring only(I was like 21), repaired the car in about
20 minutes, and picked up my dad from work. We never
had any problem with the front end after that. As for
the 74, it was an ugly pink that would sometimes stay
orange for a week or more at a time when polished.
After a camping trip to Sycamore Canyon, my best
friend and I were caught during a crossing of the
Verde River by a wall of water about 3 feet high
washing into the little car and pushing it sideways
almost off of the crossing. Flash flood! I started
backing up, but the water rose too fast and killed the
258. That Gremlin still saved our bacon. I began to
steer the wheels upstream and back to straight, and
the force pushed it backwards. By "swimming" the
wheels in this manner, we backed out to safety, dried
out the distributor, then went the long way 20 miles
over muddy, rutted roads to get home safe and dry./
I could add a lot more stupid crap like this to the
list. I was a real moron, and it's a good thing we
were a Rambler family.
mike

That's what I got out of the Puradyn link as well. They indicated
that Fram would be marketing some Puradyn products, which would carry
both companies names, and that Puradyn would be marketing Fram
products through their distribution system. Puradyn is a US company,
based in Boynton Beach, FL.

From a look at Puradyn's product lineup, it is clear that their
products are primarily for heavy equipment applications, not standard
passenger car/light truck filters. The company history page
indicates as much; it says that the Puradyn system would be
co-branded with the Fram Fleet Care trademark.

Off topic, Puradyn's product is a bypass oil filter, not receiving
the full flow of oil. It is designed to be installed downstream of
the engine's full flow filter, trapping particulates down to 1
micron, and has an electrically heated "evaporation chamber" designed
to boil off any fuel or water that found its way into the oil. The
intent of such systems is to provide extended drain intervals in
fleet vehicles that undergo regular oil analysis.

We had a 73 AMBO at the Stealership for a loaner car when I worked there int he 80's little old guy traded it in with 5,000 miles on it. 258 six auto, GREAT highway car! I think IIRC they got a 3:54 AMC 20 axle? It takes a while to get'em up to speed, but once they are cruisen, they are fine. Good gas mileage too!
Would make a great tow rig with a 360 and a 727 swap and a Gearvendors overdrive for cruisen!
I personally would love the B-scheme American wagon on eBay!

Mine has two cracks in the top ribs. The last time I
shopped around there was one on Evil bay that sold for
$2600. Be prepared to pay good dough for a decent one.
Mine will stay cracked for a while.....Russ
