Borg-Warner M-35. Rebuild parts are available, hard parts like shafts and drums might be hard to find new. Northwest trans has the kits.

It's a three speed trans but often mistaken for a two speed. There are two "drive" positions marked with a small 1 and 2 to each side of the "D". IIRC when in what most people would condsider the normal drive position (D2) the trans starts in SECOND gear. In D1 it starts in first. It doesn't stay in first long, just enough to get the car good moving (15-20 mph normally). The reason was for slippery conditions -- start in second to prevent excess spinning. Early Ford autos did the same thing, but they marked the quadrant differently. No Ramblers had two speed trannys.

'64 American Wagon w/195.6 flathead and auto trans:

the trans - is that a 2 or 3 sp?  What is the likely rear end ratio?
Are parts available for this transmission? Maybe under another make?
