I've had no problem at all with aftermarket caps I get from NAPA, lucky for
me! My newest is two years old. I run 14 lbs in all cars (mostly because I
never thought about it).

The leaks in my 195.6OHV are because the thermostat neck is thoroughly
rotten and won't seal. Over the last few weeks I did the electrolytic rust
removal thing on a spare, it came out really great. I'll post pics "soon".

"Great" means all the rust gone inside and out. THe part is almost unusable
from corrosion though. I know it's mostly late-in-life lack of maintenance
but there's obvious heavy electrolytic corrosion around the brass
thermostat. I didn't think brass-to-iron would do that much harm. The wear
is bad enough I will have to put a bead of weld along the bottom and file it
flat.

I really should fabricate a new one from scratch and adapt modern
thermostats at the same time. It's not that hard!
