Re: [Amc-list] blasting media??

I have also bought a cabinet and vacuum setup from TP Tools.
www.tptools.com
They have a chart in their catalog that tells you what the best media is for
the job you are considering.
TP Tools is selling very good equipment for a reasonable price. I got a
couple great deals by buying
scratch and dent sale stuff and couldn't find the scratches or dents.
The soda blaster stuff is supposed to be a gentle method of paint remover,
but it won't do more than that, and
it doesn't harm other adjoining materials such as plastic and glass, chrome,
etc.
Another option for removing paint is of course chemical strippers. I use
Aircraft Paint Remover with great success.
I have also used a chemical rust remover called Phix with excellent results
too. Parts that don't fit into my blast cabinet
get the chemical treatment.
Silica sand is bad in the blast cabinet, wears everything out prematurely,
even itself. Use it to mix a very fine mortar for laying up brick or
something. Get some blasting media that's been recommended for your style
project from TP Tools or elsewhere.
