Navistar is a name used by International. They sold off their agricultural
division in 1985, which kept the International Harvester name. (This was
later merged in with Case to become Case IH.) What was left of International
was the truck and engine division. In 1986 this was renamed to Navistar
International Corporation.

In general usage Navistar often refers to the brand of engine. You see
Navistar motors in other make's vehicles, similar to Cummins.

The article John linked to is for the new Navistar pickup. It's the first new
pickup International has made since the 70's. According to the article it's
a monster that's about twice the size of a Ford F350. Picture a semi tractor
with a pickup bed on the back.

"Navistar" is the modernized name for the old International Harvester
Corporation...

Yep, you can choose to drive what you want, the way you want. And, other
Americans can critisize you for you choices, that's America too. Free speach
and all that.
As to what it has to do with our hobby, all that waste drives up the cost of
fuel for our AMCs. Driving an empty ton and a half pickup to Starbux for a
cup of coffee is as wasteful as, say, posting the entire digest back to the
list just to make a comment on one letter...

I Gotta ask. HOW in the he** did we get sooooo
involved in even caring about what mileage a new
truck/suv gets..OR better yet...WHO drives them???? Or
better yet /WHY they drive them?? I ALWAYS thought
that was what was great about America...we can CHOOSE
what we WANT to do??? Or am i missing something and
WAYYYY off base here? What the he&& does any of this
have to do with
AMX,Jav,Gremlin,Ambassador,Americans.....etc???? HAD
to ask!! Sure i'll gbet reamed for this
one...hahahahaha! Happy amc'n to all!Joe

The American is waiting. It hasn't moved in 3 months.
By this time tomorrow I should be out of the brace! If I can hold my head up and look around I should be abel to drive again!!!
The American is basically done, It just needs some detail work and fine tuning of things.
The list includes a swap to a full set of Auto meter Sport Comp gauges with electronic speedo.
The transmission is currently a 4-1 first gear, non World class AMC T-5. It will be getting replaced with a 2.95-1 first gear Z-spec T-5 rated at 330ftlb after I swap the AMC T5 tailshaft and shifter housing to it.
   Then it gets carpet.
The long list adds a rearend swap [probably after I break the AMC-15!]

It's a fun car to drive as-is! Plus it gets great gas mileage for how hard it'll run when pushed.

A: I have wanted to tap into an EFI Jeep intake and put a pair of side
drafts on. Closest I came to it was when I had access to a pipe bender and
started making a side draft intake for a throttlebody that would clear the
stock brake booster in my J10 with 4.0l HO engine. (I have since dropped
that in favor of a GM Hydroboost)

Well I plan on heading to the u-pull-it to measure jeep
chassis. Maybe I'll take home an aluminum intake to see if I
can hack it for dual YFs.

Dual carbs are cooler than EFI! (Even if it is twice as hard
and half as good :-)

Want to buy one center cap for a Machine wheel. Doesn't have to be nice; in

1968-69 AMC AMX Edelbrock Cross-Ram. Part #AM4486228. In good shape, bead
blasted, cleaned. Immaculate and ready to go. Turn some heads when you pop
the hood on your classic AMC with this bad boy. Rare and hard to find, you
don't see these very often and in such good shape. This one's been slightly
modified (See photos) for the heater valve and vacuum line for the brake
booster. It also includes linkage for the carbs. Any questions, just ask.
