On my 69 this ground wire mounts to the firewall just above the master over towards the drivers fender slightly. When I installed the Wrangler EFI on mine I used the 10 qauge wire in it's harness to make a complete copper ground circuit from this point to the engine block and battery grounds giving the car a full copper ground circuit.
steel is good conductor , copper is better! Instead of the basic short ground cable on the trunk mounted battery, mine also runs a 2 qauge cable all the way to the engine block. 
your mileage may vary!
