Hi all, Well I have been reading all these stories about their Gremlins and I thought it was about time that I told mine. As I told Paul when I first found this sight that I was a 78 year old Grandmother who has owned a 76 Gremlin (Green) since it was new. I bought it because my daughter use to own one and I thought if I ever bought a new car --a Gremlin it would be. My car is still going strong. It has a few rust spots, which I hope to have taken care of. Everywhere I go people seem to be surprised to see a Gremlin still running about. I bought it about a year after I had recovered from a very bad automobile accident. The main reason I bought it besides liking the looks of it, was because it had a wide door and easy to get into.as I had injured my right leg severely and it was not easy to get in a car. I had to have power brakes put on it to make the stopping easier and also easier on my leg. Also when I bought this car we then were in a price war with the gas situation and I think we are having the same trouble here in Connecticut now. Gas is almost $2 a gallon. I use to only put $5 worth of gas a week, now I have to put $10. These cars hold too many gallons of gas. I believe it is 22 or 24 gallons at one time. So if you fill up now it would cost and arm and a leg. At the time I bought this car (almost 25 years ago) I only paid $4,000 with the added equipment. I still have all the original parts and radio and gas cap with the Gremlin guy on it. The only thing I would love to find is one more hub cap (like my three originals) I have inquired most places that can get Gremlin parts, but cannot seem to find a hubcap. I also own a 94 Oldsmobile, Cierra. I perfer to drive my Gremlin at all times. It is a fun car to drive and it sure has the power when you take it out on the highway. If anyone knows of one lonely little hubcap for my Green Gremlin, I sure would like to hear from you. The hubcaps at that time were rather on the small side. I only have 87,450 miles on my car after all this time. I hope to get an antique license plate for my car soon. Best of all it does not have to go to the Emissions anymore. I just have to get a sticker to state that it is 25 years old in 2001. End of story. I am also glad that I have found this sight for Gremlin lovers Allena blair.macdougall@xxxx
