There should be a couple of oblong holes in your dash right at the windsheld. Are you saying there is nothing up there at all. My Gremlin is about 10 miles away in a garage are I would tell you exactly how long they are but I think they are about 12 inches long. One on the driver side and one on the passenger side. If I remember right it has a plasic piece in it and 1/3 blows toward the middle. The ice on the inside of the windsheld is not right at all. Does the heater blow out hot air? You are going to have to get some warm air blowing on that windsheild or it is going to be dangerous to drive. As for as your rear hatch your on your own there. I don't think any Gremlin came with a rear wiper. Actually I don't think the rear wiper became popular until the Mini Van became popular in the 80"s. As for as the rear defroster I know some Gremlins had it but most didn't. I think the rear defroster became more or less standard in the 90's. I know it was an option on most cars in the 80's. You might try rainX on the outside and I think they have a antifog product for the inside this might help. The windsheild has be worried. Like I said it should have some holes on the top of the dash and the heater controls should have a defroster position. It is hard to drive a car without a defroster in the winter. well the thing is there is no defroster vent on the dash i didnt cover it up cause its in exactally as it was, and i had frost on the inside of the window, is this normal? also is there somthing i can put on my back hatch to clear it off? no wiper or def on back either----- Original Message -----Sent: Wednesday, December 07, 2005 7:42 PMSubject: Re: [BaadAssGremlins] defrosterI have two questions. One is what kind of back tires do you have on it. The
second and I don't meant to be smart. How much experience have you had
driving in snow. It is a lot different than driving on dry payment. While I am
no great fan of front wheel drive cars they do a whole lot better in snow than
rear wheel drive cars and of course you can't compare it to four wheel drive
suvs. I wouldn't think about driving my Gremlin in the snow any more. Too
afraid I would wreck it. The defroster. I haven't had a heater in mine in
years. The heater core started leaking years ago and I disconected the hose to
it. I have a new one in a box in my spare bed room but since I never drive it
in the winter I have never installed it. I do remember the defroster doesn't
work very well on my 78 either. I can't remember if it blew more to the middle
or to the passenger side. I know we put tape over a lot of the defroster vent
to get it to blow on the driver window. Make sure both of the side vents and
the one in the middle are turned off this well put more air on the windshield
too. The inside of the drivers window has a million little straches from my
mother keeping a rag where she kept wiping the inside of the window off.
