[BaadAssGremlins] Was Parking brake question/Now reality Check

Sorry to get down on you Dan but before you spent how much money to have
some one tell you about the rear brake hose you should have asked the
host of AMC hands on mechanic's here on the list, if you did I missed
your post, there are some professional and some dam good back yard
mechanic's as was the term before cars became computerised and a normal
person could work on the. If you thought an AMC was going to be an easy
car FORGET IT!!!!!!! I was a professional mechanic/fabricator for almost
40 years before becoming disabled and have owned my yellow 74 Hornet for
31 years, bought it new. My orange 74 I bought 22 months ago and it has
been a fight no matter what I do to it, Check my posts for the last 22
months. Did you actually think any 25+ year old brake parts would really
be any good????. Pleaseeeeee. I know it ain't cheap but neither is your
life or the person you hit with an old car with patched up brakes. Bite
the big one and put the new parts in and be done with it that also goes
for the front end and tires. I have 4,500$ in my orange 500$ 99% rust
free Hornet in mechanical repairs and I did 90% of them myself, with a
mechanic's discount on parts and no sales tax. Yes replace the rear
brake hose and the 2 front ones TOO!!!!! Sorry for the rant but I am an
old man who's patience has all but gone and dealing with a wife of 36
1/2 years and people I won't mention the one word that describes them
that drives me insane. A serious word of advice, ask here before you
waste your time and money like you just did.

--- Begin Message --- Okay-sorry to be a pain in the @$#@ about this, but I ran into another
snag with this whole brake issue.  I was able to find exact
replcaments from a company called Tru-Torque-got them from a parts
chain in the area called Advance Auto.  But now, I can't bleed the
back brakes again.  I tried everything, but nothing worked.  I finally
got fed up and brought it into a shop, who concluded that the rear
flex hose from the frame to the rear axle is collapsed.  From the
outside, the hose looks ok.  Has anybody ever run into this before?
I'm reaaly getting discouraged with this car-it's 1 thing after
another.  I know it's buyer beware when you buy somehitng on line (in
this case ebay), but I really feel that i got the shaft.  Anyways,
thanks for letting me vent, and for any input that anybody can give me.

Dan
