Speaking of painting door jambs, I had a friend who owns his own Maaco here paint a Javelin for me in the mid 1990s. I was curious as to how they would paint the door jambs, so told him to call me before car went into paint booth. Doors open, they had removed the scuffplates and pulled back the carpet and taped it down, and also there was something like butchers paper backing it, so none of the interior would get hit with paint. Dust yes, not paint. The striker, metal trim door tag, plastic VIN door tag, all had been covered by masking tape. The weatherstrips also had been covered all the way around the door with tape. It ended up looking reall ynice, not concours mind you, as if one ever peeled back the weatherstrip you would see original color. However, for $500 paint job, the car was no longer a cop attractor either, so sort of you get what you pay for lesson too, however, I was not going to drop a $3K paint job on this car that was worth well, maybe $3K either. Just some rambling thoughts to add to Terry's comments.
