Hi Paul, yup, a majority of that you see on ebay with the description of cars is well, as old as the car itself. If you have ever tried to buy a new, or used, car thru the years, don't matter which decade, you will hear so much bullshit you will have to wear waders. Words like cream puff, little old lady, low miler, pampered, garaged, come to mind! But there are some low miler AMCs out there. I had the chance to buy a 71 Matador 2door, 304, AT, Matador Red, white interior, from a fellow in Clyed, Texas in the early 1990s. I passed on it, it eventuall sold for $5500. What was special about it was it had only 1334 original miles. Even the air in the tires was new. The little old lady who bought it new, drove it to church and store for two years then died. The car was at the big Homecoming AMC meet in Kenosha in 1998 in case anyone had a chance to look at it. Amazing to see Champion N12-Y original plugs, original polyester tires and more on something like that. I have had a number of low mile cars myself. The fellow who bought my 71 Matador 2 door with less than 15K miles for instance. A photo of the mileage is here, and it is all original. I have driven this car less than 200 miles in 8 years. He is making payments on it, and it will eventually end up in Marrietta, GA. But the mileage you see it ACTUAL, 14,976. I have driven this car two whole blocks in over a year. Broken down, this 1971 AMC has been driven a average of 414 miles per year since 1971. The other photo here, one is the 72 Matador 'machine' I just sold on ebay for $2551.00 last week, it has a whopping 56,252 original miles on it. And all original. And lastly, my 71 SC/360 NOS tachometer and NOS speedometer is shown in another photo. Yup, that is 00001.5 miles on the speedometer, which is brand new in the box and never has been installed on any vehicle. When I finish my Hornet, the car will have 00001 mies on it 'since restoration' however, the vehicle from 1971 has had 98K original on it. As for odometers, Eagle odometers roll past 100K, my 82 Eagle wagon has about 212K on it right now. But yes, a majority of cars chunked on ebay has exaggerated claims like mileage, and other fun words thrown in fro good measure like 'mint' or 'rare' or 'restored' to name a few! But there are some monster low mile AMCs that do indeed still exist and never see asphalt, the problem is getting people to back up the claims!
