Re: [AMC-list] Pacer 304 rebuild Parts?

Neat thing about the 998 is it has aftermarket support for high performance pieces. You may not want them for the Pacer,
but it's nice to know they're available. Remember it's a Chrysler trans.

The 998 is a heavy duty version of the 904. It's as good as any other tranny of
it's size. Both the 904 and 998 will occasionally crack/break the converter
neck. I've dealt with 2 and have seen a few more at the wreckers.

Ken, is the 998 Tranny an issue other than that? I am nor very familiar
with that tranny. Regards, Jay

...and being a 304, it will (probably) have the 998 transmission. It is
possible
the torque converter neck is broken and has jammed the works. I got a Spirit
almost free because of that. The engine was fine.

Another possibility is that the starter has jammed up against the
flexplate/flywheel.
