Jay, Being locked up doesn't necessarily mean it needs a rebuild. Remove each spark plug and put some penetrant like Kroil in each cylinder and let it soak for a few hours to a few days. You can try turning it by using a wrench on the balancer bolt or a better way to to remove the mud pan and use a large screwdriver prying against the flywheel or flexpalte teeth. Check the coolant for signs of oil and the oil for signs of coolant. If all looks good and the hood has been closed, a few of the piston rings may have slightly rusted to the cylinder bores. That's not necessarily a good thing but it doesn't mean it's time for an overhaul either. The common accessories like water pump, alternator, and ignition parts are available parts outlets like NAPA. The consumable parts like belts and hoses are common too, except the radiator hoses might be scarce. You can fall back on the AMC vendors for anything you can't find at the local stores. Good Luck with it. Hi Yall, finally got my 1979 V8 Pacer home last night and got the hood open. I was told it ran, well, must have been some time ago cause the 304 is locked tight! UGH. Oh well at least the body is decent. Now, do any of you folks know of a good supply company for the parts for this engine?
