Not sure what the model 15 in my '82 Spirit came with, but it could spin if I got on it with a 4.2L and 999 auto (which is coming out and into my core/for sale pile along with the 998 from my '81 Eagle for the same reason. Torque converter neck headed south) It would also cruise at 70 without screaming. 
   I pulled the M15 (which sucks since I put a new wheel bearing and rear brakes with new 9" rear drums and no-one local is interested for $100) and swapped in the Eagle M15/D35.
   The ratio was SO low, my speedo read 70 (with the motor screaming) and people were honking at me for going too slow in a 50 mph zone!
   The Eagle axle has a bad pinion bearing, so it is coming out and onto the for sale/core/scrap pile ($300 a ton here right now! Woohoo!) along with the matching front diff. 
   I have an XJ 8.25 to go in (3.08) and a matching non-vacuum front diff to go with it (into the Spirit of the Eagle SX4 I'm building for my wife)

'technically' only 3.08 is correct. The 6923 is more than half so only rounding
up should work. : )
I've been using a 2.53:1 model 15 in my 304 Spirit (mid 16s, 82 mph, 2nd gear)
and it is still good. A 3.08 would put 21  % more torque to the hub but I keep
the tire size down to allow spinnage before parts start to give out. Even my 401
80 AMX has the 2.53 open rear (mid 15s, 92 mph) and it's still OK too though it
