" Andrew; Thanks. Yeah the fact that the 327 is not a frozen turd is a plus. Its been in a shop for 10 years and is a complete 327-4v. It should bolt right up to the 287 tranny, right. I don't remeber anything done to them in that respect.

327s usually got beefier trannies though, side-loader t85/t89
[ancestor of the t10] instead of top-loader t86/t90. and i'm pretty
sure at least some 287s got aluminum autos after they were intoduced,
where 327s always got iron warners.

" He also has the posi unit from the car, its been sitting in back of the shop the same time.....Russ

points for originality! but the jeep mkt means that several new posis
are available, and if you want to go 2.73 or 2.56 there's the hmmwv's
torsen... [not sure if civvie hummers have 'em; thought i read they
dropped the amc20 diffs]

btw 'heavy hummers' [up-armored] have 3.07 gears, but i haven't been
able to find out if they're std gears on a 3-series torsen carrier or
special gears to fit the 2-series torsens all other hummers have,
which would make mil supply sense.
