Re: [AMC-list] 5.7 Hemi in an American

" There's a guy on the AMC Forum with one in a late Javelin. It's tight
" in that, and it's slightly wider than an American. The 4.7L V-8 should
" be slightly narrower and should be a better fit. Besides, it at least
" has some AMC influence, and is at least rumored to have come from the
" AMC/Jeep design department before Chrysler bought AMC. Definitely has
" their touch on it. You can get some big car 287 badges for the fender
" too!

and the latest versions are up to 300@5650 hp and 330@3950 ft-lbs.
with the ohc heads i'm not sure how much smaller they'd be than the
pushrod hemi, but i believe envelopes are similar.

" Has anyone put a, or know of, modern 5.7 Hemi (or the 6.1 for that
" matter) in a 64-69 American?

there's a 6.4 crate motor and maybe a 6.6 coming...

squint and call it a 390? btw read they weigh in the 480s, ~55lb less
than a mopar la-block.

the official mopar performance catalog

they still have some stuff for the amc/jeep 6, incl cams and the efi
kit.
