Yeah, it certainly is possible to glow an exhaust manifold, 
even to some extent up into the head. 
If your doing that on a regular basis you likely have 
other things to be concerned about than the braze coming out!
Were's it going to go? out the exhaust most likely.

I've seen glowing metal stay together that was brazed,
 pot belly stoves and wood burners.
I never thought much about alloys. I guess that 
could be a factor.
