Borg-Warner "T-10" 4-Speed boxes have been used in three different series in production, and are available in two other seriesas aftermarket items. All gear sets interchange. However, there are differences in throw-out bearing and collar thatshould be considered. The T-10 "V" (Close) used with 68-69 model 390 engines incorporated a large front bearing cap (#318 5168) and throw out bearing (#320 7521). All other T-10's (including the aftermarket Super T-10) use a smaller bearing and cap.  Wide "T" series (1st=2.64, 2nd=2.10, 3rd=1.49, 4th=1.00) Wide "P" series ( 1st=2.43, 2nd= 1.76, 3rd=1.47, 4th=1.00) Close "V" series ( 1st= 2.23, 2nd= 1.77, 3rd= 1.35, 4th=1.00)  Super T-10 wide "W" series (1st=2.64, 2nd= 1.75 3rd= 1.33 4th= 1.00) Super T-10 Close "S" series (1st= 2.43, 2nd= 1.61, 3rd= 1.23 4th= 1.00)

ps.   For performance applications, the larger parts should be used. Gear ratio depends on type of compettition.

I have a 4 speed from my AMX and was wondering how to tell the difference between wide and close ratio.  Is there a way from outside or do I have to pull the side cover to check gears?
