what year is the waggie?  in the '70s they used gm th400s.  a
judicious mixture of gm and amc parts would hook the diesel to the
t/c.

for a later one, you might be best served by an advanced adapter setup
to marry a gm tranny to the original gw nv228 [?] t/c.  early versions
of the th700r4 aren't highly thought of, but later ones were quite
good and all the tranny places know the strength mods.
