FYI, I have some experience with the Motorola type boxes. (Black ones) They have a digital ID that is recognized by my cable company. If I hook up this type in my home it will be disabled in a matter of days if they are not registered. And if they are registered my cable company wants more each month for their use. So just be sure these will work on your system. Maybe some googling before bidding. I don't know if the Scientific Atlanta boxes have similar issues or not.
Sorry to hear about your buddy TV biz. I repaired monitors, terminals and TV's for about 14 years before I saw the writing on the wall and moved on to other things about 10 years ago. I still do a bit of monitor repair on the side. Helps pay for my Javelin project. :)
