Brian,
Welcome to the list. There are quite a few very knowledgeable people lurking
around here who know much more than me about racing AMCs in NHRA classes.
Maybe one of them will come on board and give you some advice. I think they
check the list more during the week than on weekends so be patient. The only
advice I can give you is to keep a positive attitude because you will be
encountering some challenges in the preparation of an AMX or for that matter
any car for drag racing. The very first thing you are going to need is a lot
of money. I suggest you find a race car shop close by that is familiar with
preparing drag racing cars and talk with them about your project. Unless of
course you have the ability to do the work yourself, then enjoy building the
car..... it should be fun.
And that for now is about all the advice I can give you.
Four AMXs that's freaking awesome, wish I had that many......

Hey I have 4 AMX'es, and need to make 1 legal for nhra stock with a 290
motor. The cars were my stepfather's who just passed away 2 weeks ago. I
know that he told me more times than I can count if it was the last thing he
ever did he was going to run his 68 AMX down the drag strip and he felt he
could set a record for the class he wanted to run. I aint sure what class
that is. But I'm, gonna figure it out and do my best to get it out there. 'I
was told I'm gonna have to sub-frame the chassis and get it certified by
someone. I know I have alot to learn. Any help would be wonderful I need to
do this for the man,He was real good to me and my mother for the last 15
years
