My first car, a '64 Classic, had them, so I never had a reason to think

I haven't yet researched the literature to determine when they made the
transition from option to standard equipment.

I'm planning to pull it into the garage to yank the rear wheels and replace
the parking brake cable today, so it'll be easier to look from the pit.

I've been strict about them ever since I started driving - years before
the seat belt law kicked in here - so yeah, I know what you mean.
