Doesn't the starter relay feed 12+ to the coil on start?
There could be a short in the relay grounding the link and thereby shutting the car off till it opens again?

I know they added the 12+ feed to the coil from the relay at some point, just don't recall when?
If this is the case it will have two small wires between the larger wires.
