89 ii internal and an AX15 unless it's a changover model from close the year change.
AX15 went external slave in 94 and IIRC you can convert with a bellhousing and a few odds and ends.
Worth doing if it's a lifelong keeper.
May not be worth doing in the rustbelt on a darn near 20 year old vehicle depending on how the salt has been treating it!
