When I was in college, I worked in a marina. I really loved some of
the older wooden and wood and glass cabin cruisers. I went out for a
ride in a twin screw, twin engine Chris Craft. The owner said he
burned 100 gallons easy going on a Saturday cruise up the Hudson
river.

100 gallons. At marina prices (seriously marked up). I opted for a
small 15 1/2 foot sail boat for a while, then a flat water kayak. I
might get real fancy and go for a john boat or row boat with a couple
horse motor some day. But no twin screw (or even singe screw!) cabin
cruisers for me! (it sure was nice, though)

I'm sure your wife will have a great time, and I hope a 5.0 won't be
too expensive to run. I'm not so sure about paying marina prices for
gas, slip space, storage and repairs.
