Re: [Amc-list] Jacking Points

Matt, Don, the 60 doesn't have the pads marked "lift". It's the older body design with continuous rails from bumper to bumper.
63 and later big cars and 64 and later small cars have the lift pads in the back just in front of the rear wheels with "LIFT" clearly stamped in the metal panel.

For 58-62 (63 American) put the lift pads or jack under the rail, not on the flat just to the outside along the area along the front part of the front door and rear part of the back door (underneath the doors, of course!), but under the inside edge of the rail near the center where it's strongest. There's a raised ridge under the center of the rail where the two halves come together and are spot welded. It would be nice not to crush the ridge, but won't hurt anything if you do. It probably has a couple flattened spots already where it's been on a lift or floor jack. You can also lift on the floor reinforcement rails under the front seat that run front to back inside the main rails.

For the rear, you can jack under the axle or there are boxes in front of
the rear wheels marked "LIFT" that you can use. If you jack on the
boxes, its better to use a jack with a flat lift pad so you don't dent
them. For the front, you can use the frame sills under the A pillar.
