hi jim, i have the same car. mine is a 2 door. i have had my trans and rear out and apart to replace bearings before. yes and no it is just that easy. you unhook the panhard rod. un bolt the t-tube. unhook the park brake cable. becareful about the springs. you can unhook the shocks, and lift the car up high enough to take out the springs, drop the car down low (on jackstands like we ALWAYS use ;-)) then you can bring the rear t-tube back. the no its not that easy part, depends on how well the car was taken care of. my panhard bar was a pita to get to come off. and some of the other bolts were rusted pretty bad. when i took off my truss rods, (rods that go from either side of the axle to the front of the t-tube) the bolt holding them on to the tube up front had the threads completely rusted off. i had to cut the brace off the t-tube, weld a new nut on it, and weld it back on. if you are lucky and dont have a hard time getting bolts off, you should be able to have that trans out in an hour. after the first time, second time i pulled trans out it took me only about a half hour. pics of my 62 classic in link at bottom if you like. glad to hear it sounds like one more will be saved. dave stohler http://picasaweb.google.com/das24rules _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
