Lightly press the button with one finger and slam the dash with your other hand.
Geez, it's the 60's, it's a steel dash. Hit it :]
Or just fix the thing once you get it open! usually just takes bending the tab up till the catch just catches it.
Fine tune the in and out adjustment till it workdsright.
If. it's a locking cylinder, putting the key in and jiggling while pushing the button in sometimes works too.
Last IIRC, some of the 63ish Ambasaurs had a little thumb pull that went around the button.
If you see one in the yard grab the whole thing and put it in your what ever year steel glovebox door.
Make sure you get all as some of the rear retainers are different heights due to trim levels.
