 I got a very well used Hornet once that was as
original as the day it was bought. I got it from the
original owner who had an extesive collection of
receipts from the AMC dealer and garages that serviced
his car. He was anal about keeping to the maint
schedule and the miliage showed him bringing it in on
almost the exact miliage point as AMC said to.
The collection of papers was impressive, he even had
Shell gas receipts.
Anyways, this was a 73 Hornet 258 with a 2v.
I also parted out a 75 AMX with the 258, and it had
the 2v. I can't vouch for that ones origin but the 73
I am almost 99.999999% sure it came with a 2v from the
factory.
I have long maintained, and still do, that if the
factory (or a dealer)was anxious enough to make a sale
they would look the other way from what was accepted,
and AMC was sure anxious back then....Russ
