not just delco.  this coil type was common in marine inboard setups,
presumably to reduce the number of sparky fume-igniting relays and
contacts.

this was true up to '67.  '68s went to 'conventional' coil and
external ballast.  makes older cars slightly easier to switch to hei
since the coil/dist is already getting full 12v all the time.
