Jay, I just got the call from the current 'babysitter' of PlainJaneVanilla...I'll be bringing 'er back to Charlottesville from Richmond(area) early next week and I can then grab you some pictures *(where she sits right now I could NOT get pix because it's 'buried' in a darkdark barn behind years of 'stuff'... The car currently is Aqua...the seats are 'plainjanegrey' and the door panels are the most absolutely plainest ever..not even a pleat!! Eeeeech! The dry rot seats mean covers are necessary, but here is the sunshine to that: this car's interior, though dry, hasn't been destroyed...so covering the seats with nice covers directly over the old (that's how I do it: I order the covers from Autocraft in Massachusetts (for whom I am a dealer---so I get these covers for somewhere around $250), put a 'sheet cover' over the originals, then a very thin layer of foam (about 3/8 inch) and pull the covers over and hold 'em with hog rings)...if you wish, I can order the seat covers for you (COD) and you'll get 'em at my price). The headliner board is perfect. The door panels only problem is they are SOOOOOO bland. Not a teeny tiny bit of 'pizazz'. How about unused (for the most part) ash trays? A non smoker 'little old lady' (really) owned this car and was the ONLY real owner (as defined by 'driven by'). The outside refinish must be thus: sand all the surface imperfections down...there isn't any heavy pitting. Epoxy primer and primer surfacer...then color and clear (unless you use one stage paint). It is currently NOT a tu-tone, but this car NEEDS more of something...it's so boring now your eyes close and fall into deep sleep~Well, almost anyway. The photos would show nothing of consequence since there aren't any holes, the surface rust isn't of major consequence or pitting, and the seats are as described as above. So if you are serious, bust out your checkbook... (I just sold my '67 today and was considering adding this to the fleet, but, frankly, when I make an offer, it stands until it's time passes, so the $1,000 offer is 'up' for the taking since it's just been made.. ) Where are you located? I can deliver this 'within reason' when I collect it early next week instead of bringing it back here which is why I ask that. The ONLY other negative thing I can think of is the crack in the windshield...I was told that 'can be fixed' (Oh, Really? Do they REALLY fix cracked glass???? YES, or so I'm told...so maybe it doesn't need a windshield since the crack is minor (finite and under a foot or so) but this I don't know. DO let me know your interest level...you can phone me up on my cell and I can give you the lowdown (perhaps we can rendezvous where I'm collecting the car from and I can draw it to your spot if it's 'reasonable'...or you come with your trailer/dolly/towbar and whatever... If I sound anxious it's only because of this: I'm in Virginia without any of my toys, this was to be one of them, and if it goes to a Loving deserving home, I'll need to go north and fetch one of my current fleet and do it's fixin's (since I DO need (or want) a convertible really anyway).. One last thing: when is the last time you found a completely rust free Rambler for even NEAR $1,000??? No Rust. That IS impressive. As of now, I only have 4 AMC's and desperately need another.
