Rock Auto only lists the 2501/2501R brake drum for the REAR and I need > the FRONT. Are they correct for the front? THe 195.6 cars allegedly got 2" wide, the 232 got 2.5" wide. The ONE THING that will tell you what width shoes belong on those backing plates is the "anchor" top and center above the wheel cylinder. When a shoe sits on the backing plate, the arced end of the shoe rests on the anchor. If you put 2.5" shoes on a 2" backing plate, the shoe arc end sits at the tip of the anchor, instead of centered. The wheel cylinder is the same; a 15/16" (example) wheel cyl for 2" brakes sits lower on the backing plate than one for 2.5". The brake shoe should sit squarely on the face of the wheel cyl piston (bendix) or the little slotted footsie thing (wagner) should be straight out. > 4. The BD2502 have a concave center to which the front hub mounts and > they do seat all the way. The original drums have a convex center (with > respect to the shape of the drum) and that make up the 1/2 inch > difference. The BD2502's do not make contact with the backing plate, > even though they are 1/2" deeper. The 9" brakes all use the same hub; the concave vs. convex is required for that. 9" brakes I know really well at this point (for what that's worth)! I even have some junk parts to measure if you get stuck. _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
