[Amc-list] restore or keep original????

I need advice from all you AMC/AMX veterans.

I have a 69 AMX, 343, auto, A/C that is very original...motor, drive train, interior and all body parts.  It has 59K miles, runs good and is tight.  Everything works...even the old AM radio and A/C.

My questions:
1.  What are the pros and cons of keeping it much "as is" versus doing a restoration?
2.  The interior shows its age...carpet is faded and driver's seat has tears.  I am inclined to replace the seats and carpet with repro items.  Pros and cons?
3.  It was originally gray and had been repainted black...it needs a paint job.  I like the black but what are pros and cons keeping it black versus a complete resto back to original gray.

In short, I don't want to over invest but don't know merits of "original" versus some rehab.

I look forward to your suggestions.
