Could be a different gasket manufacturer.
In the old days you could have just checked a couple of different makers to a thicker gasket. Now I doubt you'll find many places with them on the shelf.
Be ware of belt alignment issues! You may need to see if you can nudge the impeller onto the shaft slightly with a shop press. Or unlikely though possible the impeller is working it's way back.
I've seen several six cylinder impellers work back and grind into the no# 1cylinder casting. It was back in the 80's but  none the less it does happen.
