As near as we can tell, from reported failures over on the Strokers site. OEM cams and lifters seem to do well on the new oils, so far. Aftermarket stuff seems to be a crap shoot. Could be the oil, or break in procedures or soft cams! The EOS or STP 4cyl treatment seem to be the easiest way to make sure you keep the ZDDP levels high in flat tappet cam engines. I switched the American to the diesel stuff, then found out I got the wrong diesel stuff, now with the HV oil pump in place I'm somewhat concerned about cam gear wear by running the thicker weight oil, somewhat. I want to try 0w-30 in it with EOS or STP 4cyl additive. just haven't had time. It runs 65psi cold and 42-25 at idle hot. It could stand for more flow and less pressure. I polished the drainbacks on the head when I built it, so I'm thinking the 0w-30 may be the ticket. If not, well, I'll either change the oil again or be building the stroker if I really screw it up! -- Mark Price Morgantown, WV 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 " I was different before people dared to be different" -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: Tom Jennings <tomj@xxxxxxx> > I dunno about this oil stuff... is this one of those things like the lack of > lead causing excessive valve wear?
