" []
" I also have one of the rare Sanden AC compressor brackets for the AMC V8
" so that I can mount a light and efficient Sanden AC compressor in lieu
" of the bulky York the car originally carried to save a bit more weight.

imho the weight difference will be scarcely noticeable. otoh the
power drain difference is tremendous, something like 5hp vs. 15.

" How about those Javelin owners who have six-cylinder engines? What sort
" of mileage would a 232 or 258 equipped Javelin get?

the 1bbl six might actually be worse than the v8. i remember when my
folks got their '66 bel air wagon i tried to talk them into a 283 v8
because it was good for 23 mpg, but they cheaped out and got the 230
which could only get 20.

more recently, 4-cyl cherokees get scarcely different mileage than
sixes, and i've heard that v6 grands get 3mpg less than 4.7 v8s.
