[AMC-List] Glue for the headliner

I saw your question on the AMC list.

Look for 3M  general spray adhesive for high temperature use at the auto
parts store,
or ask at an upholstery shop. Find a roller with handle about four inches
wide.
I found mine at a fiberglass polyester resin supply house, but a small paint
roller
with a very tight nap roller would work also.

Get at least two friends to help. Take the seats out, cover the dash and
rear deck. Protect anything
that can be ruined by the adhesive.

Test fit the headliner using many friends to temporarily hold it in place,
and determine a center line and center point for both directions of
alignment.

Spray a fairly heavy coat on both the fiberglass glass headliner pad and the
vinyl fabric.
Probably will take about a can or more of spray on each if I remember
correctly. Don't get cheap with the adhesive as the new headliner will drop
soon if you do.
I draped my headliner over a 1 x 4 laid between two ladders to ease the
application of adhesive.
Read the directions on the can and follow them for drying time.

Carefully move the vinyl headliner inside the car and lift to the
aforementioned centerlines/centerpoint. slowly work in all directions toward
outer edges of headliner using many hands and the roller. Roll again in all
the compound curve areas. Use just the correct amount of pressure, don't
crush the fiberglass liner.

Replace trim, seats, etc. and go for a drive to the beer store for friends
who helped.
