A: Because every time someone started bidding, their spam and phish attacks 
would shoot up 1000% or so and attempts to get people to buy stuff outside 
of Ebay sales would go up too. (many of them would be BS too) Last few times 
I posted stuff, I had people make me low ball offers if I stopped the 
auction before the sale finished. (it also cuts down on collusion)
   Whoever is doing the auction can see who is bidding.

Hey all,
does anyone know why E-bay changed the way the high bidder's
name (handle)
shows (actually doesn't show).  All it says is Bidder 3 or
Bidder 15 or
whatever.  Just curious.
