Hey Gang,
Just a note tolet you all know that the beginning of the Rambler Rescue
Patrol has been sent out to the 6-8 folks that helped guide me to completion
and beginning. Also sent to the group of friends on my personal list.

Just wanted to pass it along to you also. IF you would like to see the .pdf
of the booklet and get a .pdf form to fill in your info, just let me know
off line and I will get them to you. Then as the list grows, everyone on
the booklet will be on my personal e-mail list and be contacted as it grows
with updates. all e-mails and addresses will be for my file and use only.
Nothing given out. Just Name, phone, e-mails and help info will be in the
book. Any questions, let me know. Spread the word and lets get it growing.

Hope all goes well at NAMDRA this weekend, regretfully being off work
financially unable to make the BEST drag race of the year, in my reach.

Have a GREAT weekend!
Richard

Sorry,
If you don't remember my trip to Dayton was breakdown alley.

So I thought about a directory of AMC folks willing to help out. I has
become a reality in the making. It is a 1/2 page booklet compiled of AMC
people willing to help you out on a road trip.

I contains name, phone, e-mail and a short list of things available to help
with. It is being set up by state and the .pdf format makes it possible to
fill in the form, mail it back and get a page by page .pdf in return. Or a
booklet layout ready to print out or take to Kinko's to have printed.

I have about 12 people so far and as entries come in, it will be expanded
and the entry people will be on an e-mail list of my own and get updated
copies as it expands.

So that is what it is all about, and more questions, track me down anyway
possible.
Thanks!

Richard

Yes, They do actually wear out.
Take an old one apart and look at it.
The dirt, grit, moisture that build up in them wear way the edges and flat surfaces till they rattle and don't seal well.
I've seen/heard some that sounded like bad lifters and the flat valve was work over halfway thru.

Jerijan; where is the American located? There is a
real nice 63 440-H located here in Salem (Oregon) area
that needs an engine, oil in the water situation.
Would it be easier to convert the hdtp to a
convertible or to use the hdtp to save the rag top.
Either way you get the hdtp for about $600 and it is
real clean....Russ

Joe; the TSM says no gasket but later manuals, such as
Motors, mention this fact as a fatory install, meaning
when the metal is clean and true. Through out the
years that metal will get all nasty and may need
surfacing. Or you will need to install a metal gasket
to pick up the imperfections......Russ

There was a posting about a Matador wagon caught in
the exodus from Israel. I remember seeing an Eagle
wagon in a news reel about Somalia. The hatch was torn
off and a machine gun mounted to the roof. There was a
sling tied to the rack and the guy was just hanging
out in the back. Kind of a rat patrol thing.....Russ

Eddie; you can count me in for using AMCs exclusivly.
My work car is my 68 American beater, my driver is my
65 440 and my toy is my 70 AMX and 73 Hornet 2-dr
wagon. My long term project is my 64 American 440-H
getting the stroker 4.o/ 4spd treatment. The last non
AMC I owned was a Dakota 5spd, about 4 years ago. Even
then I still had an AMC or two.....Russ

Message-ID: <200609142023.k8EKN8E05263@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

after a summer's load of distractions i've now gotten a nastygram from
the city and -have- to move two of my cars one way or another. i've
been given 'a couple of weeks'. if nobody speaks up they'll have to
be junked.

both are 2dr 220 sedans. details -

a '66 parts car - gd f&r glass, compl 199/3sp drivetrain minus a few
engine parts, compl susp, trunk lid & taillights, dash, maybe asstd
bits.

a half finished '65 rod - warmed over '74 232 longblock [hot cam,
flattop slugs, 4bbl offy intake], versailles rear, big bendix frt
disks, '84 5.0 t5, probably more as i recall it... front fender has a
rust hole; rear fenders have small holes where i was planning to
radius them right over the wheels.

i have some pics i can send.

both cars are on their wheels but i dunno if the tires hold air.

the '66 could be stripped and junked; i'd just like to get what's
usable off first.

as my address says, i'm in bradford ma; that's part of haverhill, on
the nh border ~15 mi from the coast.

Your killing me here!
I want the 65. Anyone able to move it this way????
I'm very serious. Sounds like exactly the body I've been looking for to clone the Kraft Rambler. If not, just to save it would do for now.
Send me the pics.
Yeah, I can't even think about coming and getting it, but if anyone is hauling this way I'd really like to here from you!

My project to add air conditioning to my AMX has run into a snag. Several promising leads for parts have fallen through and I still need these parts.
A compressor in any condition. My York compressor needs the head replaced because of a crack. Also, the valves that mount between the head of the compressor and the AC lines. A complete compressor w/valves is also an option.
I also need the heating/AC control panel for a 70 AMX with the cables if possible.
Thanks for any help you can give me. You can call @450-458-2668 or email at don_nsx@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Tell me what I should do...

I am insuring and registering two of my old cars... I go between Texas and
Virginia and can register the cars in either Texas or Virginia. I would
prefer to register the cars in Virginia because, it would end up being
cheaper (insurance and fee wise).

Presently, I have clear Texas titles but, Virginia requires Virginia titles
for registration. If I have them re-titled in Virginia, I will be screwed
by Texas if I ever want to register them in Texas again because Texas has
that criminal $90 vehicle import fee.

I thought about getting a duplicate Texas title, taking it to Virginia and
using it to get a Virginia title. I would then have a Texas and a Virginia
title if I ever needed to re-register it in Texas.

Ideas? Suggestions?
