I happened upon these "Signal Sorcerer Trip Traffic Lights" things and were 
wondering if this stuff really works. I don't remember the last time I saw a 
intersection here in Houston with the square things they mention in the 
auction. Most intersections seem to have this doodad up on the stop light 
thaty looks like a camera but is not and simply detects movement from above 
and changes the signals, that is unless it is timed, then you wait like FEMA

I was looking for traffic signals. I still have some from hurricanes in the 
past (hey, you find them all over the place, duh) but wanted something else 
for the kids room. Saw this and was wondering if it really works or is it 
like some radar detectors that make you invisible, ooohhh, I am a Klingon 72 
Ambassador SST Station Wagon Bird Of Prey you can't see me driving in 
Houston!

This would work only on those lights that have the loop in the road and the loop
is active. And your car is sufficient to trip the signal (as long as it's not
plastic or fiberglass) so why bother with a small magnet?

Sounds like to got it untangled. I jhsut chanegd the motor
mounts on my 258, and installed a 258 into our other hornet a
fewmonths back.

It's annoying, even when it goes "easy".

I don't have a sure-fire straight-shot so much as a methodology.
Getting them out isn't so bad; the driver side, the mount bracket
on the block is almost vertical... I lift the motor fairly high,
install passenger side first. The drop the drivers side mount
onto the xmember, then add the bracket on top. I find something
to drift the holes into alignment; gettthin the first bolt
started sucks.

I got smart(er) on the most recent -- the stud on the replacement
mounts was 1" or longer -- far too long! I hacksawed it down to
1/2" or so, plenty long enough for nut and lock washer with 3
threads stickin out, it made it a LOT easier to slip the mount
in on the pass. side!

I don't know why the studs are so long, there's really no need for
it.

It's bullpoop, along with magnets to put on your fuel line, etc.

There exist traffic light controls for ambulances etc, but they
are at least optical, and increasingly more complicated (radio,
etc). And unauthorized use (and getting caught) would get you
seriously busted.

Even a monstrous magnet from an MRI machine, you can barely
detect the magnetic field from a dozen feet away without
instruments; inverse square law.

Those loops in the road are simply "metal detectors"
used to could car traffic rates; LA's almost completely
covered with them. They generate data like this:

The perpetual motion crowd really loves magnets! They think
they're free energy, they overlook the fact that it takes a lot
of energy to magnetize 'em, and that eventually the magnetic
field dissipates.


I have a friend who's friend gave him this little aluminum
triangles to stick on the corners of his fenders; they increase
gas mileage 25%.  When I asked him how he measured it he said
he hadn't, it was obvious they were working, no need to measure!

Oh yeah, those "demand" lights! Long country highway, small cross
street; light stays green forever for the highway, changes to
let small cross traffic pass. Just a metal detector like Ken
sez, no need for maggits. Unless you have an all-plastic car,
ain't none yet I heerd of!

After picking out 4 good rear 77 AMX fender flairs the other day I have
started to strip the paint off them. I was told they were painted with
Dupont Centari acrylic enamel. I am using SEM spray can plastic bumper
stripper. I tested it on an extra flair I have to make sure it worked
and did not damage the flair. It seems these flairs 
were painted white and primed and painted white again. The stripper
seems to work well but with the extra paint it takes an extra 1-2
applications of stripper to remove all the paint. It took one whole can
to strip one flair. Over the counter it is 12$ a can. I bought it
through my friend for 8$ a can which is a big savings. But I figured I
could strip all the flairs and the front air dam with 4 can's. I now
figure I will need an extra 4 cans of stripper to finish the job. At
least I have enough to strip the next 2 flairs between today and
tomorrow. One of the 4 flairs I picked out was not painted. When I
bought everything I got 3 extra flairs and all the unpainted one needs
is to be sanded and primed. I am using SEM spray can bumper primer and
for the orange color I am using Sherman Williams acrylic enamel with
Morton's Impact 200 flexible paint additive. 40$ for a pint of the
Impact 200 and 95$ for a gallon of the orange and 20$ for a gallon of
thinner. I will have to tint the orange slightly to match the original
orange paint on the car. It is a close match right out of the can but
not close enough for me. You allknow w a pain I am. :-)~
