I agree with mr. taylor eye eye eye, it looks like a Taurus (or, after
Furd's TV/radio ads, a "TORR-you-us"). Possibly the focus group thought
this crapped up /jag-you-are/ was OK, but the E-Type opening is low,
mouth-like and to the ground, and clearly functional. It's
anthropomorphic and vaguely threatening. The new jag pouty slit has to
compete with that other accidental mouth thing under the "bumper" (sic).

They can't simply wish away the fact that taurii and bags of other
econocars did the cant-make-up-my-mind little wimp oval with braces and
oops need more lower duct duct. 

To the buyers of the new Jagaurus the E-Type is something you see in
coffee table books, maybe; everyone under 40 yrs old only knows the
tauruar grilled atrocity.

They're all short in the styling nerve dep't these days. Ford is peeing
in their own pool.

Power Tour is usually a good time but you'll probably have a hard time 
making hotel reservations by now,

The 2006 Richard Teague Regional meet is in Dublin (Columbus), OH on July 8th.
The 2006 AMO International Convention is in Dayton, OH July 27th-29th.
The Edmund Anderson meet is in Dayton, OH (same place as AMO meet) on 
September 23rd.

hey everyone, i thought that i would post to here and
say hi and tell you a little bit about my rmabler that
one of the guys posted about.
my name is jason and i do live in graylake,IL
i am proude to say this is the 4th old car that i have
owned.....
my list is
73 chevy nova 4 doorZ(bought cheap for $22 and never
could drive it and junked it after a year)
74 plymuoth duster(bought tinkered with and then sold
and never drove..sigh...)
1982 olds delta88(was dailer driver for a year or so
and autocrossed it for one season, the sold it, bought
it back and now turing it into a autocross
monster.....)
1966 amc rambler(my grm chaalange car and going to
used for some drifting and autocross)
i will be having pics this week of it after i get it
home. i have been trying for a couple of weeks now to
get it, but it seems very hard to find anyone with a
trialer hitch at times from  everyone that i
know...sigh...
but i got my car running again with a hitch so i can
go get it this week and get some pics of it online.
it has been a very expancse weekend to say the least,

my olds dies 2 weeks ago and could not figure out why
it would not start, had spark and gas, but no fire....
turned out to be the rotoe was off...sigh...
my subby leagcy wagon brakes went out and have to
replace all 4 counsers pads and rotors.
and the rambler needs to be gone over and tuned up and
looked at to get into driver state before mods
start....
the best thing is the olds runs better the  it did at
least and the mechanic fixed some of the bugs it was
suffering at least. we will see how all the mods i
have done to it work at the autocross this sat...
tommor the brakes get fixed and the subby and then
somehow i go bring the rambler home this week and get
to drive it into the driveway at least....
i am hping in june to get it running and the parts
needed to go to front disc. then we work on other mods
for hadling and enegine upgrades that are cheap.
next year i might look into a jeep motor and 5 speed
for it.

Do you know the correct fade for each color stripe. The white stripes have a printed black fade, the gold stripes are printed black. 
What is the black stripe printed(white,gold,silver)? Is the blue stripe a metallic color or just a solid blue color with what color fade? Did they make a red stripe. 
Was a non-fade stripe original? What does a 71 stripe look like(not the early wrap around fender early type

Can anybody answer the above questions

Ok, just had to pack up to move down to Cali and don't need and didn't have room to take my spare engine down. It was running when pulled. It's basicly a long block right not sitting on an engine stand in my garage. There are accessories, but they have been removed. 

Everything is free but you have to pick it up and take it all. Hopefully someone will make some use of it.

I think that with all of the input from a number of knowledgeable people
it has been established that 4 wheel disc brakes are a doable situation
on a 1962 Rambler Classic. But I think that one more shot at answering
this is worth the time to write it because--------------
The author did not want just any disc brakes BUT those that had ?The
Look?

im planning on running some 17" torque thrust wheels so i need "
something that will look good peeking thru the wheels.

Now that is as good a reason for wanting certain components as any
reason can be so---------------
The front is easy, the original style Dunlop 4 piston disc brakes are
now in reproduction as stated earlier. Most if not all parts are now
available through AMC specialty vendors. Depending on what is needed,
from a Donor Car pull off everything back to the steering knuckle and
install on the front of the 1962 Rambler Classic. 
This will give you the spindles and all other parts can be purchased as
repair parts if needed. 
My guess as to cost would be between $1000 to $1500 depending on repairs
needed. The cost of powder coating for appearance can range widely but
East Wood can sell you materials and an old electric range can serve as
a backing oven. I have a full working set on my Donohue and for $1800 I
would remove everything and ship them to you. This would give me the
excuse to install the set of 1980 Spirit Disc brakes units that is
sitting on a shelf in my garage on the Donohue. I would even include the
2 extra sets of pucks and the package of soft parts if I can find them. 
We all agreed that one option on the back was to install a MOPAR 8 ?
axle. There are of course others. Just out of curiosity and doing a
little bit of internet searching I found that there were both rear disc
brake conversion kits for the MOPAR axle and that there were axles
available to convert the 4? bolt pattern to 4 ?? bolt pattern. One
manufacturer, Wilwood Heavy Duty Front and Rear Mopar Disc Brake
Conversion kits for Dodge, Plymouth, and Chrysler Cars WIL140-7144 Rear
Disc brake Mopar 8-3/4 & Dana 60 $618.75 had the disc brake hat drilled
for  both configuration. The 6 piston units were about a grand. 
Custom axles such as Strange, Summers, Moser, etc. can be specified with
the larger lug pattern for the A-body housing.  Longer axles from a
larger vehicle may be cut and resplined to fit the shorter A-body axle.
Donors for this operation are C-bodies, D-bodies, trucks and vans with
the 8-3/4" axle and 4.5" BC.  Moser Engineering can perform the cut and
respline operation.  When selecting a donor axle shaft, look for one
that does not taper along its length.  Note: A-body 8-3/4" axles were
equipped with 10x1-3/4" drum brakes.  Replace these with 10x2-1/2" or
11-2-1/2" brakes and associated hardware from the donor vehicle or
similar. 
This appears to be about $400.00 or so.
So it appears that you can do exactly what you want to do for some where
between $3500 and $5000 easily using almost all new over the counter
parts. Of course do not forget misc. expenses and a good estimate for
that is in the area of $500.00 -  $1000.00. 
Now if some one really thinks these prices are out of line with reality,
check ?m out yourself and look around at some of the euro sports with
the big hoop wheels as the snarl on by. This is a good faith estimate on
my part. 
Or even, go by a Cadillac dealer and take a look at the window sticker
of a Cadillac truck that has these same components on them. Be prepared
for serious sticker shock. 
But those are the popular parts these days, lets face it and there is
nothing wrong with that. 
This has been fun. 
Hope it helped you figure out some of your solutions.

We ended up coming to the same conclusion.  Every time we counted  teeth and 
eyeballed these things...they look the same.  New ring gear and  new starter 
drive should fix this.
