How about making me a set for my wheels Doc? ;> Yes, I'm DEFINITELY kidding you!! That's a lot of time and effort in a small part, but should be noticed. But I would like to see a photo of the finished product. Sounds like a nice detail article for AIM. If you haven't finished all of them how about taking a couple photos in between steps? E-mail them and I'll dig this text out and make a nice one or two page photo article from it. If you don't have a digital camera regular photos will be fine. You can even use a disposable camera and send me the camera -- just fill it with pics of your cars too. I'll reimburse you the money for the camera and e-mail you scans of the pics I used. That goes for anyone with a project they'd like to see in AIM, car or repair. Send me a bit of text and pics via e-mail, or let me know before buying a camera. I'll reimburse for a camera after receiving it. People really like seeing projects that are unfinished. It gives encouragement to start/work on their own! It's an added plus when I can publish "during" and "finished" pics -- even if it's a year or two later. On November 2, 2005 Mr. AMC wrote: > The interior job has just burn't me out. It still needs a few things but I had to get away from it after working on it for 8 months. I decided to detail the after market Turbine wheels that came with the car. I am painting the area in between the spokes the orange body color. Also the fake knock off centers are missing the mfg's brand decal/sticker. After being turned down by a local truck lettering shop to make me some press on centers with an AMC emblem on them I decided to make my own. I am duplicating the 3 dimentional R/W/B plastic emblem that the factory glued on under the hatch using model sheet plastic and suppies. I cut 4--1 3/4 circles of 30 thousands sheet plastic and painted them the orange body color. Next I cut 2 rectangular pieces of the same sheet plastic and glued them together to make the base of the emblem and painted it black. Next I did the same but made them slightly smaller and covered them with modlers bare metalfoild and glued them to the black bas! e.! > This gave me a black lip and then a chrome lip. Next I cut a single piece of 30 thousands plastic into a still slightly smaller rectangle and painted the R/W/B AMC emblem on it. This will be glued to the foiled piece leaving a chrome edge around the R/W/B > AMC emblem. Try doing this 4 times. I was just going to paint a R/W/B emblem on the orange disc and mount it to the knock off but the 3 dimentional emblem will look so much better glued to the orange disc. This may seem like a lot of work but I build model cars for relaxation. Total time over 2 1/2 weeks to make 4 of them will be around 25-30 hours. Good thing I have a dehydrator to bake the glue and paint on these emblems or drying time would stretch out the completion time 2-3 times. > "Doc" ============================================================= Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist
