The interior job has just burn't me out. It still needs a few things but I had to get away from it after working on it for 8 months. I decided to detail the after market Turbine wheels that came with the car. I am painting the area in between the spokes the orange body color. Also the fake knock off centers are missing the mfg's brand decal/sticker. After being turned down by a local truck lettering shop to make me some press on centers with an AMC emblem on them I decided to make my own. I am duplicating the 3 dimentional R/W/B plastic emblem that the factory glued on under the hatch using model sheet plastic and suppies. I cut 4--1 3/4 circles of 30 thousands sheet plastic and painted them the orange body color. Next I cut 2 rectangular pieces of the same sheet plastic and glued them together to make the base of the emblem and painted it black. Next I did the same but made them slightly smaller and covered them with modlers bare metalfoild and glued them to the black base.! This gave me a black lip and then a chrome lip. Next I cut a single piece of 30 thousands plastic into a still slightly smaller rectangle and painted the R/W/B AMC emblem on it. This will be glued to the foiled piece leaving a chrome edge around the R/W/B AMC emblem. Try doing this 4 times. I was just going to paint a R/W/B emblem on the orange disc and mount it to the knock off but the 3 dimentional emblem will look so much better glued to the orange disc. This may seem like a lot of work but I build model cars for relaxation. Total time over 2 1/2 weeks to make 4 of them will be around 25-30 hours. Good thing I have a dehydrator to bake the glue and paint on these emblems or drying time would stretch out the completion time 2-3 times.
