YES. That's one of a few AMC cars that is considered a collectible by the general collector car world. The I-6 will make it one of only two that I know of with a six. A fellow built a turbo six some years ago and put it in an AMX. The 4.0L six would have about the same power as a stock 343/360 AMX anyway. If you add a 4.0L head and EFI later it would be as good as a V-8 model, though collectibility will be down. Still, if it's "fixed up" to the point it's a driveable car, it will be better preserved. Swapping a V-8 in later for a true restoration won't be a big deal.

No, I don't think so. We're just relatively few and far between. It's just not to the point that it's worth shipping parts all the way across the continent that can still be found locally. Sadly when they can't be found locally, they may not be findable anywhere!
