Actually, the heater core in an Eagle isn't too bad of a job. Remove the lower dash tray, remove the blower motor and heater hoses, remove either one or two nuts under the hood, then there's a screw or two on the inside of the car. Loosen the top screws across the dashboard and loosen the lower dash bolt on the passenger side so that you can pull the dash back just a bit. At this point, you can wiggle the heater box containing the heater core out (you do NOT have to remove or disturb any of the AC stuff---they are two separate boxes). There are a few screws holding the heater core into the box. Replace the core and installation is pretty much just the opposite of removal. I've done the same job on a Spirit or two, and I didn't think it was a terrible job. Certainly not a simple stroll through the park, but nothing cringe-worthy. More than likely, the exhaust leak is actually from the eir tubes for the emissions. There are repair kits but they are a PIA. The Eagle does have the air ride suspension that keeps the car level if you load up the back. The compressors are known to seize up from condensation or an air line can break and the thing will run the battery dead. Not really a bad system if it all works OK. The heater core is a nightmare. I assume it has AC since it is a limited? The valve cover is again, typical for the era. The best thing to do is get an aluminum replacement valve cover from 4WD hardware or some similar place. The plastic ones will always leak. For seeing what is involved with the changeout go to http://forums.amceaglenest.com/index.php?topic=3709.0 If you buy the Eagle come join us on the Eagle forum.
