Your right, that is an adapter ring on the back of the block, but I believe the bolt pattern is the same.  The top bolt in the 3.9L V6 pattern is just not there in the Mopar Small block pattern, but all of the other holes match up.  I'll actually try to verify that the diesel pattern is the same, but, in all honesty, I think it is.
