I've heard of some others who run aftermarket fans on real daily drivers who had the same problems. It's a heat problem -- heat from running coupled with heat from the radiator eventually kill it over long periods of time. If you'd not run it over an hour you'd probably be fine. Under most conditions it wouldn't run more than half an hour anyway. That's why you notice a gain when using an electric fan -- no drag on the engine except when it's on. It only runs much in thick traffic or towing heavy loads, and even then rarely runs more than an hour. This is one reason I like to use salvaged fans. Production fans in American vehicles are designed for the worst case scenario -- fan constantly running an hour or two. Some of the Japanese and Korean cars I'm not to sure of! Look for a two speed Taurus fan. Will require trimming the shroud but it's a good 16", 10 or so "S" blades, and sucks tight up to the radiator on high. So, if you see any of these at the Carlisle or other shows I would not recomend them at this point! Somewhere at home I have a card from the seller who said they gave a 1 year warranty, So, if I can find the card I will be contacting them to see if they will actually replace the fan and then carry a spare stock fan till I see if I can trust the replacement to hold up. > I may just upgrade to the dual fan setup I originally planned on, but decided not to go with when I originally speced this out. Now that I know I can actually see a gain from the elctric fans! As far as I can tell, no damage was done to the truck. I will be changing the oil and transmission fluid before driving it again though. > > > Mark Price > mprice@xxxxxxxxxx > Morgantown, WV > 69 AMC rambler, 4.0L, EFI, 5 speed > 65 Ambassador Conv, 327 AUTO, Basketcase > 01 S-10 CREWCRAP 4X4 ============================================================= Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist
