won't work.  all americans smaller than 232 had a 'big nut' rear yoke
up through '66.  the u-joint is pressed into place and that nut clamps
the yoke onto the pinion, and it's torqued to 300 ft-lbs if memory
serves me right.  you won't get it loose with a 1/2" wrench!

conventional u-joint setups like you describe appeared with the '65
and '66 232s and finally swept the line in '67.
