A: It is adapted to the early Buick nailhead TH400 (not the TH350 like Sandwichmaker said earlier. I think he missed his AM coffee! <G>) which is a pattern all of it's own aside from BOP or Chev (or 60 degree GM used with 2.8L V6 as well as in newer Caddies and the Olds Aurora). Vega 4 cyl used this pattern but the offset is different (you would need a spacer for the crank as thick as the adapter ring less the OEM crank spacer on the Jeep motor) I don't think even the TH200R4 came with that pattern but the early Vegas had powerglides and later ones had TH250s (which could be upgraded with some TH350 internals with minor grinding. When I worked for A&B trans 25 years ago as a re&re mechanic my job was also to do teardown and grind to fit the parts into Chevette auto trans TH125 IIRC?). I have both a core nailhead trans and the adpter ring from it (I'm giving a friend of mine the 360 for her Jeep as the noise from the bearings is quite bad. She's helping me move some stuff around here in exchange since I'm laid up for a bit) From: Jesse <j2sax@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: GM Adapter from 72 Commando- Which GM Trans will work? To: mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx So I have the TH400 adapter from a 72 Commando and I want to use a RWD OD tranny behind a 360. Are there any close to bolt ons? I prefer manual, but Auto's will go for this. What torque converter or Cluth Set would work. THanks and have a great week, Jesse
