Bruce, I cover a lot about vac wipers (mainly the motors) in the next AMC, which you'll be getting. Printer should deliver any day now -- think I'll call tomorrow. The vac line should run from the wiper motor to the fuel pump. Another line should run from the fuel pump to the intake manifold. The vac side of the fuel pump is a BOOSTER pump. It won't run the wipers by itself, doesn't create enough vacuum. The TSM isn't a big help -- no vac tube diagram. They assumed dealer mechanics were familiar with something so common -- back then! Of course now it's all some weird science stuff... Right under the control cable on the wiper motor is the vacuum tube connection. Run that over to the fuel pump. If you can look at the pump "IN" and "OUT" are usually cast onto the body near the vacuum connections. OUT should go to the wiper motor, IN to the intake manifold. If not, put your finger over each connection. The one that sucks on your finger tip goes to the wiper motor, other one to intake manifold. I think they are 3/16" lines, but they might be 1/4". ------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Mar 2008 19:36:10 -0400 From: "Bruce Griffis" <bruce.griffis@xxxxxxxxx> Wow - it makes the most wonderful putt putt putt sound! I'm guessing something's messed up somewhere. I ran a hose from the nipple on the bottom front of the fuel pump up to the bottom nipple on the wiper motor. I guessed that's where it went - as there was nothing there. Well, it made a cool putt putt sound. I unhooked the hose and no sound. I'm guessing it's in the fuel pump. Is that the consensus? -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
